This was a constant part of his life because of his family’s history and the emotional power of Armenian folk customs. He lives between Lebanon and Armenia now, and he uses that legacy to make movies that mix enormous orchestration with the musical richness of his ancestral culture. His journey from self-taught keyboardist to working composer shows how he intentionally mixed many styles: the grand scores of Hans Zimmer and Thomas Bergersen, the emotional depth of Armenian music, and a personal connection to the stories his family lived through.

The place where he grew up had an effect on his artistic sense that can still be seen in his work. Beirut’s rich history and culture gave him access to many different musical styles at once. But it was Armenian music that had the biggest impact on him. He heard it at family gatherings, celebrations, and via the voices of relatives. “I was always drawn to sounds that were emotional and cinematic,” he says. That attraction wasn’t by chance. Armenian folk music has a long history of shared memories, strength, and a unique way of playing melodies that puts emotional expression ahead of technical skill. Because he grew up in that tradition, he had to learn its ideals before he could put them into words.

Baghdassarian learned most of what he knew about music on his own. He learned how to arrange and perform by ear on the keyboard in a musical household that prized intuition and listening over formal lessons. He says, “Growing up in a musical family naturally shaped who I am.” That foundation was very important when he started writing music since his style is based on emotional instinct and sound storytelling, not just technical formalism. Self-teaching has its own benefits: it makes a musician improve their ear, trust their gut, and find solutions by trying new things instead of following set rules. For Baghdassarian, this meant finding a really unique way to write music early on.

Hans Zimmer and Thomas Bergersen have had a big impact on his work. Both composers were very good at cinematic orchestration, which means they used instruments, themes, and silence in smart ways to create emotional environments. Baghdassarian felt that their approach confirmed his gut feeling that he should combine big orchestral pieces with deep human emotion. Zimmer’s work on movies like “Inception” and “Interstellar” shows that music can be just as important to the story as words or pictures. Bergersen, both in Two Steps to Hell and in his solo work, showed that epic music doesn’t have to lose its emotional depth. But Armenian folk music was just as important. The genre’s modal scales, intricate rhythms, and ability to express deep emotions without words proved very important to his style of writing music. Instead of seeing these influences as opposites, Baghdassarian put them together: Zimmer and Bergersen gave him a framework for cinematic scale, while Armenian culture gave him emotional authenticity and cultural identity.

His family background is a big part of who he is as a creative person, and it’s not just because he loves them. His grandfather fled Dikranagerd and Caesarea to escape the Armenian Genocide. That history of survival and strength gives his work emotional depth. It is not an afterthought in his music; it is the basis of it. He wrote “Heroes of Musa Dagh” to honor the brave resistance of Armenian villagers during the genocide. He did it with purpose and a grand vision. The piece doesn’t shy away from how serious its subject is. He says, “That energy is something people really connect with.” The work shows that he can turn historical trauma and communal memory into music that people of all ages may enjoy. Armenian listeners will find the piece especially meaningful because it pays tribute to a specific era in history with respect and artistic seriousness. For some, it serves as a portal—an invitation to comprehend aspects of Armenian existence through auditory means.

Working with others has become a big part of his work. One of his most famous projects is a remix of Sirusho and Sebu’s “Vuy Aman.” He also wrote original music for Bared Maronian’s documentary films. These connections have been artistically useful in ways that can be measured. To work with an established artist like Sirusho, you had to know how she wanted the remix to sound, what her creative vision was, and how she wanted the emotional arc to go. Working on a documentary film requires a whole different set of skills. The composer has to help the plot, support the visual storytelling, and make emotional moments better without making them too much. Baghdassarian says, “The shared experience helps both sides grow and see things from new perspectives.” He doesn’t regard collaboration as a compromise; instead, he sees it as an opportunity to test ideas against another artist’s sensibilities and come up with something neither of them could have made alone.

These partnerships also show that he has grown as an artist. A younger artist might not want to take advice from others or want to have full creative freedom. Baghdassarian’s readiness to work within other people’s frameworks shows that he is confident in his skills and really cares about the process of working together. This willingness to share has probably helped him grow as a composer more quickly. Every project with a different artist or filmmaker imparts lessons that help you with your next endeavor.

He finds live performance to be very important. The emotional interplay between the musician and the listener in real time changes the whole experience. He says, “Seeing how people react in real time and feeling that shared energy makes the music come alive in a whole new way.” Baghdassarian believes that a piece of music is not really finished until it is played for an audience. The technical execution is important; the orchestration must be clear, the time must be right, and the dynamics must be controlled. But the emotional transmission, or the moment when listeners feel what the composer meant, is what makes the work successful. This point of view sets him apart from composers who only work in studios. He sees music as a living, breathing interaction instead of a polished product that people passively absorb.

His vision goes beyond the projects he is working on right now. Baghdassarian is actively looking for chances to perform for bigger audiences that are more diversified and not just Armenian communities. He is especially interested in making truly cinematic live experiences that combine visual storytelling, staging, and musical performance into one seamless journey. He says, “I want to make a full experience, both musically and emotionally.” This goal shows that he has grown as a person: he now sees music as only one part of a bigger artistic statement, not as the only way to express himself. It takes a lot of resources and planning to make these kinds of shows, like graphic designers, lighting experts, and story architects. The fact that he is actively working toward this goal shows that he is both artistically ambitious and practically determined.

The path from being a self-taught keyboardist in Beirut to being a working composer with international collaborations and a growing library shows gradual, planned growth. Baghdassarian has not tried to get viral moments or algorithmic recognition. Instead, he has created a body of work that is based on real emotional expression and cultural identity. His work speaks to Armenian audiences in a special way since it is based on his own experiences and memories of his family. But its cinematic scale and technological expertise make them able to reach people who don’t know much about Armenian culture at all.

What makes his work stand out is that it isn’t sentimental. His music is emotionally straightforward without being too sentimental. “Heroes of Musa Dagh” is powerful because it takes its subject seriously. His work with documentary filmmakers shows that he is an artist who is comfortable telling stories and making narratives, not just showing off his technical skills. These are the instincts of a mature composer, someone who knows that music’s power comes from how it may make human experience clearer and deeper, not from how complicated or new it is for its own sake.

Baghdassarian’s basis stays the same as he strives for bigger stages and more ambitious projects. It is the emotional depth of Armenian music, the cinematic ambition of his greatest influences, and the historical awareness he got from his family. There is no conflict between these aspects. They work as a team. A composer who has learned how to write music that is emotionally real, has been formed by a culture that has survived and made beauty in the face of great hardship, and has been influenced by great filmmakers is ready to make work that moves people from all over the world.

The next step in his career will probably be to become more well-known around the world and give more complex live performances. But the main promise to make music that values feelings, stories, and cultural memory, doesn’t seem likely to change. Baghdassarian doesn’t see that consistency as a limit. It is clarity.

As C-Rouge continues to develop his craft and pursue his vision of cinematic, culturally rooted composition, the Armenian diaspora and the broader international music community have much to anticipate. His work honors the past while reaching confidently toward the future. We wish him every success in bringing his ambitious artistic vision to the world stage.
